Description

To learn more about Harry, please get in touch with [email protected]

Harry will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event they will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*)

He's not the wizard Harry, he's not Prince Harry, he's the doggo Harry!

Meet Harry, the sweetest, goofiest, and most lovable boy! Harry is looking for an active forever home where he can live like a prince! Harry loves walks and has done very well on a leash, stopping for intervals, and sticking with you. Although Harry will need lots of exercise, he has had a soft, cuddly side to him that will just melt your heart. He loves burying his head into you, showing you his version of a hug, with all the love and affection you could ask for! Be prepared for him to show you he's a lap dog.

Harry's favorite game is fetch, but he is not all too picky with his toys, he loves them all! The games you play, he will surely participate. His zest for life can overwhelm small children, so a home with kids 12+ would be best for Harry. He does well with dogs, and has thoroughly enjoyed playgroup at the rescue center! Harry has done well with house manners and has been crate trained, though he wouldn't mind a refresher! He is a star when it comes to basic training, knowing to "sit" like a master! His deep food motivation makes him a lovely dog to do tricks with. Harry is a bit too curious about cats, so a feline-free home would be best for this great young man.

His goofy eyes, Jack-Russel-like coloring, mixed with his sweet personality and good manners make him your next companion! Come meet him at one of our events, he would love to say hi!

Adoption process

After you Adopt, you have two weeks to make sure this is a good match for your household. Our goal is for both the adopter and the pet to be happy with the adoption. If you return your adopted pet during those two weeks, we will refund the adoption fee or help you find a better match.

We cannot guarantee the health of any animals adopted. You will receive medical records when you adopt showing the care your adopted pet has received and what we have done to address any medical issues known to us. Please be aware that the animals available for adoption have been in contact with other animals and could have been exposed to a disease. Like human illnesses, these disorders can have an incubation period of up to several weeks. If the animal you adopt shows signs of illness at any point, please take it to the vet for treatment. Once an animal is adopted, the adopter is responsible for all medical expenses. LDCRF will not pay for medical care for an adopted animal.

Shelter location

Our adoption process begins with a conversation in an open, welcoming environment. We want to hear about your hopes for your new pet, your day to day routine, and your concerns. We will tell you about our available pets and help you make a choice that we hope will be just right.

This takes place in person at one of our weekly adoption events (Use this link to see our event schedule: https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) and if you find the right fit, you will take your new family member home that same day.

You will find all the details about How to Adopt a dog or cat with LDCRF at: https://www.lostdogrescue.org/adopt/how-to-adopt/

    Breed info

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a dog breed recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), but not the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is a medium-sized, intelligent, short-haired dog, of a solid build, whose early ancestors came from the British Isles. When compared with the English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Pit Bull Terrier is larger by margins of 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in height and 25–35 pounds (11–16 kg) in weight. The American Pit Bull Terrier varies in size: males are normally about 18–21 inches (45–53 cm) in height and around 35–60 pounds (15–27 kg) in weight, while females are normally around 17–20 inches (43–50 cm) in height and 30–50 pounds (13–22 kg) in weight. According to the ADBA, the American Pit Bull is prescribed to be medium-sized and has a short coat and smooth well-defined muscle structure, and its eyes are to be round to almond-shaped, and its ears are to be small to medium in length, typically half prick or rose in carriage. The tail is prescribed to be slightly thick and tapering to a point. The coat is required by the ADBA to be glossy, smooth, short, and stiff to the touch. Many colors, color patterns, and combinations of colors are acceptable to the ADBA, except that both the ADBA and UKC do not recognize merle coloring. Color patterns that are typical in the breed are solid and tuxedo. Despite the colloquial use of the term "pit bull" to encompass a whole category of dogs and the legal use of the term to include several breeds in legislation, some conservative professional breeders of the American Pit Bull Terrier as well as some experts and supporters claim that historically the APBT is the only true "pit bull" and the only breed that should be denominated as such. Twelve countries in Europe, as well as Australia, Canada, the United States, Ecuador, Malaysia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and Venezuela, have enacted some form of breed-specific legislation on pit bull–type dogs, including American Pit Bull Terriers, ranging from outright bans to restrictions and conditions on ownership. The state of New South Wales in Australia places restrictions on the breed, including mandatory sterilization. The breed is banned in the United Kingdom, in the Canadian province of Ontario, and in many locations in the United States.
