Description

Three Stunning Pups!

Courtesy Post

Hi everyone! We're happy to meet you! We are Bruno (Black & White), Roscoe (Red & White), and Luna (Grey & White) We have had a hard year! Do you have a moment to hear our story?

We had a wonderful Dad who lived here locally. Unfortunately, he was called to Heaven. Our Aunt who lives very, very far away, really tried her hardest to get us sent to her! We went through all of the required vetting for transport out of state, we communicated with a special military pet transportation service to help get us there, we have waited patiently for all of our required testing to come back and finally, we are just about ready to get on our airplane to go see our Aunt!

Sadly, the financial burden has become quite substantial and we need to find a family to call our own that is closer to here, our original home. We are now finishing up the required paperwork to become officially adoptable and we will soon be ready to start accepting applications!

Here's a little about us that we would like to include on our dating profile:

Luna - Approximately 4 years old, 70 lbs, spayed American Pit Bull. I am quite literally, a potato. I love car rides and I have not met a person I didn't like! Butt scratches are my FAVORITE! In the recent past, I did suffer from bladder stones that required surgical removal so I am now on a special food to help prevent that from happening again. I'm doing fantastic now!

Bruno - Approximately 7, possibly older, 45 lb, neutered American Pit Bull. I have the most adorable underbite and I love to show you my teeny front teefs when I smile! Although I am older, I think thats just the humans telling me that because I certainly don't feel that way!

Roscoe - Approximately 2 year old, 40 lb, neutered American Pit Bull. I have A LOT of energy! I am very curious and I always what to know what is happening around me. I hope I find an active family who can care for me and tame me on adventures for many, many years!

Thank you for taking the time to hear our story!

From our Tri State Staff:

These 3 dogs did come to us from the same house and we imagine that they would all do well together. When they were found in the home, the 2 boys were together, and Luna was found separately. Due to this, we have housed them with us in the same manner. However, they all do well together in the play yard, and go to vet appointments in the same car without issue. We do not think they are particularly bonded so at this time, we are not necessarily looking for a home to take them all. We can not say for sure how they are with kids however we have no reason to believe they would not do well. Roscoe may need older kiddos in his family simply due to his high energy levels. They seem to have no reaction when seeing other dogs but they have not had direct interaction with dogs outside of their trio since we have had them. We are unsure how they are with cats.

Please reach out to TriState Pet Care for an Adoption Application if you think one (or all of these guys) would be a great addition to your family!

Adoption process

1) Submit Online Adoption Application
•Complete your adoption application online at www.tarashouse.net by filling in all required information, including your veterinarian information, landlord, etc. If you do not currently have a vet, please indicate the vet you intend to use for your new dog. When all questions are answered, click “submit” to send to our Adoption Committee.

2) Initial Telephone Interview
•Within 3 - 5 days after online submittal of your application, a Tara's House representative will conduct your initial interview by telephone if our Adoption Committee decides to pursue your application. If your adoption application was submitted in person during a monthly adoption show, we will review your application and conduct the initial interview in person on the spot.

•While we try to contact everyone who applies for a pet – sometimes a pet that enters our adoption program is so popular that our limited volunteer resources are simply unable to contact each and every one. We apologize in advance that this is occasionally has happened.

3) Reference Check
•A Tara's House representative will call all references, especially your vet and landlord (if applicable), if we wish to proceed with your application after the initial review.

4) The Home Visit
•If Tara's House finds all references give positive feedback and every other requirement has been met to this phase of our process, one of our Adoption Committee members may contact you to arrange a brief home visit. We will ask you to demonstrate a day in the life of your potential adopted dog and evaluate the environment and conditions for the dog. If you have a glowing vet reference or otherwise demonstrate in the phone interview to be very dog experienced, we may waive the home visit.

5) Adoption Approval
•Our Adoption Committee convenes - usually virtually - to discuss your application as we worked through each phase of our process. From this collaborative review, our Adoption Committee will make the final decision on your application and inform you of their decision in short order.

•If approved, you will receive an “approval email” from our Executive or Deputy Director.

•We do not release any information collected from references, the home visit, or any other source used to make our decision on applicants.

•If you are approved to adopt a Tara's House dog, you must sign and submit to Tara's House our legally binding adoption contract along with our adoption fee (payable by check made to 'Tara's House), as well as make arrangements with the applicable foster home to meet the particular pet within three days following our notification that you have been approved.

• Our Adoption Contract can be downloaded from our adoption center at www.tarashouse.net. You may also download our Adoption Checklist, which will help you prepare what to look for and do once your adopted pet is home.

Our adoption donation fees are as follows:

$280 for dogs and puppies
Approved adopters for senior dogs (8 years +) will receive a 20% discount off our adoption donation.

Refund Policy: Adoption donations are not refundable under any circumstances, but are tax deductible.

    Breed info

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a dog breed recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), but not the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is a medium-sized, intelligent, short-haired dog, of a solid build, whose early ancestors came from the British Isles. When compared with the English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Pit Bull Terrier is larger by margins of 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in height and 25–35 pounds (11–16 kg) in weight. The American Pit Bull Terrier varies in size: males are normally about 18–21 inches (45–53 cm) in height and around 35–60 pounds (15–27 kg) in weight, while females are normally around 17–20 inches (43–50 cm) in height and 30–50 pounds (13–22 kg) in weight. According to the ADBA, the American Pit Bull is prescribed to be medium-sized and has a short coat and smooth well-defined muscle structure, and its eyes are to be round to almond-shaped, and its ears are to be small to medium in length, typically half prick or rose in carriage. The tail is prescribed to be slightly thick and tapering to a point. The coat is required by the ADBA to be glossy, smooth, short, and stiff to the touch. Many colors, color patterns, and combinations of colors are acceptable to the ADBA, except that both the ADBA and UKC do not recognize merle coloring. Color patterns that are typical in the breed are solid and tuxedo. Despite the colloquial use of the term "pit bull" to encompass a whole category of dogs and the legal use of the term to include several breeds in legislation, some conservative professional breeders of the American Pit Bull Terrier as well as some experts and supporters claim that historically the APBT is the only true "pit bull" and the only breed that should be denominated as such. Twelve countries in Europe, as well as Australia, Canada, the United States, Ecuador, Malaysia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and Venezuela, have enacted some form of breed-specific legislation on pit bull–type dogs, including American Pit Bull Terriers, ranging from outright bans to restrictions and conditions on ownership. The state of New South Wales in Australia places restrictions on the breed, including mandatory sterilization. The breed is banned in the United Kingdom, in the Canadian province of Ontario, and in many locations in the United States.
