Scully (and Mulder), Budgie For Adoption In Kamloops, British Columbia

Description + Description -

Meet Scully & Mulder!Scully and Mulder are a young, bonded pair of budgies looking for a calm, loving home where they can continue to grow in confidence. These two are naturally a little nervous, but with gentle handling and patience, they will bravely hop up onto your hands - clearly wanting to trust, even if they're still figuring things out. This pair would love to have a large flight cage where they can finally stretch their wings, and the opportunity for safe, out-of-cage time. Despite their small size, Budgies require a spacious and well-equipped enclosure to exercise and express their natural behaviors fully. These two are working on transitioning to a healthy, pellet diet and future adopters should be prepared to continue to encourage them to make healthy choices. When they arrived in SPCA care, Scully was on the thinner side and showed some self-plucking behaviors due to stress. Because of this, they will need an attentive family who can ensure that they are getting all the nutrients, and low-stress environment that they need to thrive. With time, consistency, and lots of kindness, they have the potential to become very social and interactive birds who enjoy spending time with their people. They would do best in a home that understands that trust takes time and is willing to move at their pace. Rewarding moments come quickly with these two, and their progress is sure to be incredibly rewarding for someone with patience and love to give.If you're looking for a young, bonded pair to build a meaningful relationship with, Scully and Mulder may be the perfect match. The budgerigar (/ˈbʌdʒərɪˌɡɑːr/; Melopsittacus undulatus) is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot usually nicknamed the budgie (/ˈbʌdʒɪˌ/), or in American English, the parakeet. Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus. Naturally, the species is green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings. Budgies are bred in captivity with colouring of blues, whites, yellows, greys, and even with small crests. Juveniles and chicks are monomorphic, while adults are told apart by their cere colouring, and their behaviour. The origin of the budgie's name is unclear. First recorded in 1805, budgerigars are popular pets around the world due to their small size, low cost, and ability to mimic human speech. They are the third most popular pet in the world, after the domesticated dog and cat. Budgies are nomadic flock parakeets that have been bred in captivity since the 19th century. In both captivity and the wild, budgerigars breed opportunistically and in pairs. It is found wild throughout the drier parts of Australia, where it has survived harsh inland conditions for over five million years. Its success can be attributed to a nomadic lifestyle and its ability to breed while on the move. The budgerigar is closely related to lories and the fig parrots.
