Naomi, Dachshund For Adoption In Washington, District Of Columbia

Description + Description -

Naomi is the kind of little dog who makes you stop, smile, and fall in love all in the same moment. This beautiful Dachshund mix girl has the most heart-melting smile and a gentle, loving spirit that quietly reaches right into your heart. At just 1 year old and full grown at a slim 14 pounds, she’s the perfect petite companion—with a limousine, extra-long little body that only adds to her charm. What we love most are those adorable short legs, with her tiny toes turned outward, making her absolutely unforgettable.   Naomi’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was rescued by a kind woman who travels the country in a tractor trailer, giving dogs like Naomi a chance at a better life. For days, Naomi rode along in the cab, surrounded by other small dogs all hoping for rescue. When Critter Cavalry stepped in to save her and others, her new chapter finally began.   At first, Naomi wasn’t sure who to trust—but watching her slowly open up has been something truly special. Day by day, her sweet personality has blossomed as she’s learned that she is safe, loved, and finally home. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is playful, gentle, and beautifully mannered. She’s housebroken, walks nicely with a harness, and carries herself with a quiet grace that makes you want to protect her forever.   Naomi is more than just a pretty face—she’s a little soul who has learned to trust again, and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who will cherish her. She’s healthy, spayed, heartworm negative, and completely ready to start her forever life.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with beauty, sweetness, and that irresistible low-rider charm, Naomi is your girl. The dachshund (UK: /ˈdæksənd, -, -hʊnd, -hʊnt/ DAKS-ənd, DASH-, -huund, -huunt or US: /ˈdɑːkshʊnt, -sənt/ DAHKS-huunt, -ənt; German: badger dog ), also known as the wiener dog, badger dog, or sausage dog, is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. They may be smooth, wire, or long-haired. The standard-sized dachshund was developed to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits and mice. In the Western United States, they have also been used to track wounded deer and hunt prairie dogs. Dachshunds participate in conformation shows, field trials and many other events organized through pure-bred dog organizations such as the American Kennel Club (AKC). According to the AKC, the dachshund was ranked 12th in popularity among dog breeds in the United States in 2018.
