Charlie is a ten-year-old Domestic Shorthair with a calm, easygoing attitude that makes her the perfect partner for a cozy day at home. She’s all about relaxation—whether she’s napping in a sunbeam, lounging on the couch, or casually observing the world around her. With her gentle purrs and affectionate nature, Charlie enjoys being near her favorite human, always ready for a soft snuggle or a quiet moment together.

Adoption process

We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment ONLY. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via email at [email protected] or call 317-738-6090 during regular business hours. We will happily help get an application to you. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/.

Once an application is submitted and approved, we can contact you to set an appointment to meet the pet!

Our adoption fee is $150.00 for dogs, $75 for kittens under 6 months of age and $50 for all cats 6 months and older. This will include a rabies vaccination (if age appropriate), spay or neuter, a microchip with registration, and all other age appropriate vaccinations.

Mon., Tues., Thur., & Fri.: 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Domestic short-haireds are the most common cat in the United States, accounting for around 90–95% of their number. Other generic terms include house cat and alley cat (the latter may be used more specifically to refer to feral specimens). The term tabby cat technically refers to a coat pattern, but is also often used as a general term for cats of this sort.
