Description

Peep is sweet 9-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on November 22, 2025 because she was in need of medical attention.

Peep has a brown tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and a beautiful face with hopeful trusting eyes, a splash of white on her muzzle/chin, a brown velvet nose, and long white whiskers.

This senior kitty's name "Peep" may sound familiar to some of our HSOV volunteers/followers since she originally came to our shelter on March 1, 2022.

Peep was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on March 1, 2022. She was also combo tested and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. Peep weighed 6.8 lbs that day.

We've noted on her intake procedures form that Peep is missing a few teeth, so we wish that we knew more about her past history.

Peep was examined by a veterinarian on March 7, 2022 who verified that she has already been spayed. Peep was given rabies vaccine while at the clinic. She weighed 6.8 lbs that day.

Peep was adopted March 13, 2022 but came back to our shelter on July 21, 2022. It seemed that the family's home was too active and stressful for Peep since there were several small children who frightened her... And Peep always sought a quiet place away from the noise/activity.

So Peep was again looking for a loving home.

We were happy that Peep was adopted on October 8, 2022 and felt that she had found her forever.. But unfortunately Peep was returned on November 22, 2025 and was in need of medical attention.

Peep was diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and has responded/doing well with Predisone treatments.

Peep was given updated vaccinations on December 11, 2025.

Peep is not good with other cats or dogs, so she would likely do best as an 'only child/single cat' in a home. Peep is good with her human friends. She is ok with older children but young/small kids tend to make her nervous.

These updated photos of Peep were taken on March 31, 2026. She is currently enjoying a double-wide cage in The Jungle Room where the majority of our adoptable cats are housed.

This senior kitty would love to find her forever home. Peep is long past the silly, destructive kitten stage of her life and is looking for the perfect home to live her golden retirement years to the fullest. She would be very happy and content to be in a quiet home with soft blankets/beds and perhaps a sunny window to enjoy catnaps in the sunshine. We hope that the old saying "Third Time's A Charm" will hold true for Peep and that there is a compassionate guardian angel who will offer Peep her dream home~

Adoption process

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.

Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.

Adoption fees for other species varies.

    Breed info

Like the domestic long-haired cat, this is not a breed, but a non-breed classification of mixed-breed cats. Domestic cat (Felis catus) A domestic short-haired cat is a cat of mixed ancestry—thus not belonging to any particular recognized cat breed—possessing a coat of short fur. In British English, they are often referred to as moggies. Domestic short-haired cats should not be confused with the British Shorthair, American Shorthair, or other standardized breeds with "Shorthair" names, which are breeds recognized by various registries. Domestic short-haireds are the most common cat in the United States, accounting for around 90–95% of their number. Other generic terms include house cat and alley cat (the latter may be used more specifically to refer to feral specimens). The term tabby cat technically refers to a coat pattern, but is also often used as a general term for cats of this sort.
