Description
Olga came to THS after her owner was overwhelmed with the number of cats in her care. This beautiful girl was nursing one newborn kitten when she arrived. The pair was sent to foster care and now Olga is ready to find her home!
Olga is a very happy and talkative lady who is eagerly waiting to meet her forever family! Olga has lived with many other cats previously, and would love to go to a home with another feline. She spent several weeks in foster care so we could learn more about her personality. Each morning when her foster would walk into her room, Olga will get up out of her bed, stretch, and then run over to her while meowing in excitement! She is a perfect mix between an independent cat who can keep herself entertained, but also loves to play, receive affection, and lounge around with her people. Each morning she would sit on the counter curiously observing herself and her foster in the mirror while her foster stood behind her doing her makeup. She is such a goofy lady! Once you earn her trust, she is sure to win your heart!
Upon arrival, a routine blood test showed a positive result for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). The lifespan of an infected FeLV cat is typically 1-3 years after infection. Cats with FeLV may not show obvious symptoms for a period of time, but there is no cure, and treatment can only manage symptoms of illness when the animal becomes symptomatic. When a FeLV positive cat begins to show health decline or deterioration of condition, humane euthanasia is recommended. FeLV can be contagious to other cats through bodily fluids and prolonged contact. It is recommended that FeLV positive cats live as an only cat or with other confirmed positive cats. FeLV is not contagious to people or dogs. Positive cats will have a weakened immune system, and it will be important that they remain housed indoors only and receive preventative care. A confirmation test has not been performed at this time. An adopter may consider having a repeat test performed in 2-6 months with their primary veterinarian to confirm a true positive result.
