Adoption process

Adoptoin Hours:
Tuesday - Saturday: 11:30am to 6:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm to 6:00pm

No appointment is necessary for you to meet our adoptable cats and dogs unless it is an animal in foster care. Just come in during our visiting and adoption hours. Please allow for one hour for an adoption during our business hours.

If you need to do a dog introduction, please schedule it with our kennel manager [email protected] prior to bringing in your dog. You can spend time with a dog in our Real Life Room, and upstairs with cats at MCPURRS.

An adoption counselor will meet with you to chat about your home environment, lifestyle and the type of pet you would like to add to your family. Once you meet your match, you’ll complete an adoption contract, review the pet’s medical history and pay your adoption fee.

    Like the domestic long-haired cat, this is not a breed, but a non-breed classification of mixed-breed cats. Domestic cat (Felis catus) A domestic short-haired cat is a cat of mixed ancestry—thus not belonging to any particular recognized cat breed—possessing a coat of short fur. In British English, they are often referred to as moggies. Domestic short-haired cats should not be confused with the British Shorthair, American Shorthair, or other standardized breeds with "Shorthair" names, which are breeds recognized by various registries. Domestic short-haireds are the most common cat in the United States, accounting for around 90–95% of their number. Other generic terms include house cat and alley cat (the latter may be used more specifically to refer to feral specimens). The term tabby cat technically refers to a coat pattern, but is also often used as a general term for cats of this sort.
