Description

Here’s the thing you need to know about Rusty Doorknocker: he’s an orange boy. He’s VERY much an orange boy. For those who aren’t familiar with what that implies, it means he’s not the brightest little guy. Orange male cats tend to be quite loving but not very smart. And that’s okay.

Rusty is all about the food. He howls and howls when he knows it’s meal time. He spins around in circles. He’s just super excited about food. And in typical orange boy fashion, his noggin gets thumped with the plate of food as it’s lowered onto his placemat every single meal. Every single meal. Every single day. It doesn’t matter how hard you try to avoid hitting him in the head. He still manages to thwart your evasive tactics. If’s like he wants the plate to hit him. He’s getting blessed by the food plate.

Rusty loves to be petted. He really gets into it. Of course, he hasn’t fully decided to allow himself the time to be petted. He has other things to do. He has a ton of energy. So much to do, so little time. Eating is his priority. Toys and running around are next on his list. He’ll grant you a few seconds to give him some scritchies before he’s off to his next adventure.

Rusty Doorknocker is very bonded to his friend Windsor. He must be adopted with Windsor.

Rusty Doorknocker & Windsor are currently in foster care. Please contact our adoption specialists at [email protected] or submit an application to meet them.

    Breed info

Like the domestic long-haired cat, this is not a breed, but a non-breed classification of mixed-breed cats. Domestic cat (Felis catus) A domestic short-haired cat is a cat of mixed ancestry—thus not belonging to any particular recognized cat breed—possessing a coat of short fur. In British English, they are often referred to as moggies. Domestic short-haired cats should not be confused with the British Shorthair, American Shorthair, or other standardized breeds with "Shorthair" names, which are breeds recognized by various registries. Domestic short-haireds are the most common cat in the United States, accounting for around 90–95% of their number. Other generic terms include house cat and alley cat (the latter may be used more specifically to refer to feral specimens). The term tabby cat technically refers to a coat pattern, but is also often used as a general term for cats of this sort.
