Description
DOB March 31, 2021.
FIV/FeLV Negative
Ernest was reported to be extremely shy and stressed in shelter, but as soon as he settled into his foster home overnight he was keen on making up for all the love he’d been missing out on. He would do best in a home with some warm laps and would be your best pal for binging Netflix or working from home - provided you can spare a hand for petting regularly. He loves being brushed and is very food motivated, but hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet - he prefers people. He does fine being left alone for the day, but he is much more content when he has company. Maybe it is his giant mittens, but he’s a bit clumsy if his foster parents are being honest.
Ernest is a distinguished young gentleman with gorgeous striped fur, a bobcat face, and extra toes on each paw. That’s right - by his foster parents' googling, this young man has preaxial polydactyly, Hemingway type, which is how he gets his name. This gives him the appearance of wearing a lovely set of mittens. It’s difficult to overstate how adorable this is.
Ernest's foster parents don't know how Ernest ended up out in the world, but he ended up in a shelter with a wound on his tail and some damaged claws. He's healed beautifully, but his pants will take a while to grow in. He finds this a little embarrassing, but is trying not let it bring him down.
Ernest is very interested in meeting other cats and has not shown any aggression in his limited dealings with the other cats in his foster home, even when one cat behaves very rudely. Ernest's foster parents suspect he would be fine in a home with other pets after a slow introduction.
Ernest has been great at meeting new humans and has shown very little anxiety with new people now that he feels comfortable in his space. He has been very friendly with children (age 7-10) and has not shown any aggression with them.
Above all, if you have a lap that needs warming up and you like to cuddle, this fancy mittened cat might be the perfect companion.
Adoption process
Adoption fee is $200 per adult cat, and $250 for kittens (under 8 months old). This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!
Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $200.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $150 per cat vs. $200 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
