Howdy, ya’ll. My name is Wanda.

I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, so I am a Texas lady. I am polite and respectful, but I don’t take any sass.

Because I RESPECT my family, I take my personal hygiene business outside. And my foster mom knows
that she can leave me alone in the house because I RESPECT my family’s belongings. I touch only what is
mine. Well, I do like to find a shoe to take to my bed so I can smell my family when I’m alone. And when
they’re home, I don’t hop on the sofa unless I’m invited.

Because I RESPECT my family’s home and property, I protect it from STRANGER DANGER! No human or
animal intruders, ESPECIALLY NO CATS ALLOWED! I told you that I don’t take sass! And those squirrels
better watch out for me too! However, if my new family already has a dog, I know I can relax because
protecting my family isn’t now a shared responsibility. EXCEPT FOR CATS & SQUIRRELS. NO
EXCEPTIONS!

A POLITE Texas lady doesn’t lick people, nor does she jump on people. When I meet new people or when you come home, I will eagerly greet you, but with all 4 feet on the floor. However, I do like to snuggle with my people sometimes, but THIS Texas lady also RESPECTs personal space. I won’t lay all over you like those dogs who don’t have any manners. HOW RUDE!

Also, a POLITE Texas lady walks nicely with her person and doesn’t pull on a leash. Well, I have to be
honest. I’m not a PERFECT Texas lady … that rule is challenging when I smell something really
interesting!). And I won’t steal your food. Full disclosure: the other day, my foster mom put her
container of lime yogurt on the coffee table at nose level. Honestly, I thought she was sharing!

As a 5-year-old, I’ve been a mom several times, I’m glad that that I won’t ever have to raise puppies again. I want to spend my energy and time with my NEW family.

What do you like to do? I love a car ride! Could we run errands in the car together? Or could I follow you
around the yard as you work? I’ve got to get my steps in! Or maybe we could visit your friends? I like
everyone I meet, especially because they always tell me that I’m sweet. Do your friends have dogs? I
hope so! I love being with people, but I need my dog time.

My NEW family wants to spend a LOT of time with me, and they will take me exploring on long walks. Put me in a harness and on a leash, and I’m ready to go because I love an adventure! At home, they will
provide me with lots of squeaky stuffies and toys, so that I can chase them, shake them, chew them and
destroy them. And they will give me time outside to roll in the grass, to patrol my land, to chase away
invaders, and to enjoy nature.

I can’t wait to meet my NEW family. I will love and respect every member.

Shelter location

Most of our Meets are done virtually due to Covid as well as successful adopters are often geographically distanced. Fosters and potential adopters arrange "Facetime" meetings.
