Miles was dropped off at our local shelter as a stray rabbit. He was found with his eyes swollen and covered with live fleas. We quickly rushed Miles to our veterinarian where he was diagnosed with E. Cuniculi, dental disease and chronic ear infection. He has been previously treated for E. Cuniculi and may encounter residual effects from it i.e. head tilt. Despite all of this, he is enjoying his time with his foster home and showing us how loving and resilient and strong he can be! All he wants his attention from his foster mommy!

Neutered: 1/14/2024

*Medical Needs: Miles has chronic eye issues. His cornea's are a little rough which can cause potential ulcers so he will need to be on long-term eye gel (such as Optixcare for the rest of his life). He will need to be under the care of an eye doctor to keep monitoring his eyes to make sure everything looks good. So far he take a trip to the eye vet once a month. Miles also will need his teeth trimmed periodically by a rabbit savvy vet.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. The virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit. Please make sure to vaccinate your rabbits every year. For more information, please visit our website at: https://sandiegorabbits.org/education/rhdv

    Breed info

Holland Lop is a breed of domestic rabbit that was recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) in 1979 and by the Netherlands' Governing Rabbit Council in 1984. The Holland Lop, with a maximum weight of 4 lb (1.8 kg) (as stipulated by ARBA), is one of the smallest lop-eared breeds. Holland Lops are one of the most popular rabbit breeds in the United States and the United Kingdom. They were first bred by Adrian de Cock, as a hybrid of the French Lop and the Netherland Dwarf. Holland Lops are miniature rabbits that only weigh from about 2 to 4 pounds. They are muscular, relative to their compact stature, and have a wide variety of coat colours. Their lopped ears are one of their most distinctive features.
