Description
A Ragdoll's blue eyes show they share some heritage with blue eyed Siamese kitties. They also share the sensitivity and connection to humans for which their their Siamese relations are known. Ragdolls are very emotional, gentle cats who don't take change well. I mention this here because it is part of this story.
Simon had a very loving family with three middle years children. A situation developed in that family that caused a great deal of commotion in the home, noise, service providers visiting, difficulties. It was no one's fault and certainly none of this was Simon's doing. However, it became a problem for him when he became very upset and stressed by all the trouble in the home. An inside only cat, he began to hide a lot of the time. He missed meals when he didn't want to come out of hiding. He had always been perfect with his box before but now missed sometimes when he was hiding. Simon was taken to his vet who finally said "He is entirely healthy but unfortunately his life is now too stressful for him, and it would be best for him to be adopted into a new home." This was no one's fault. Because they loved him so much his family sadly surrendered him to Purebreds to be rehomed.
My years of experience as a Ragdoll foster mom prepared me to expect a very hard transition for him. Happily I was wrong. He settled in to foster with us surprisingly quickly and well. You can see in the photo's he still has some sadness in his eyes but he is relaxed and loving. He eats well, uses his box, rolls around being adorable. Simon is such a good natured boy, easy going, tolerant. He is irresistible. He was the only kitty in his home but he seems curious about other friendly cats. We don't know how he is with dogs. I would suggest no bouncy, noisy dogs. An old, quiet, hound dog might be fine.
Simon is unhappy with loud sounds. His family's number one suggestion was that we find him a peaceful " Quiet" home. Loving humans who need his silky, warm presence and are home a lot would be great. Simon does like to talk to you in his little, kitten like voice. So adorable. Of course he is playful and will chase a feather with great enthusiasm. He is just under three years old and, like a Maine Coon, he is still growing into his adult size. It is very obvious he has been raised in a house full of love. He is a treasure.
Some family will be so lucky to have his loving company.
Simon eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Simon is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Simon please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at [email protected] If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at [email protected].
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
Purebreds Plus cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Oregon, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
