With everything going on currently with COVID-19, we have canceled our public meet and greets until further notice. If you are interested in meeting any of our pets, please email us or fill out our online application. We can then review and send to the foster family. We may cancel our home visits as well but if you could attach photos of your yard and one or two of your home that would be great. In lieu of the visit this would allow us to meet you and allow you to meet the pet and conduct a possible adoption either outside your home or at a public place where safe distancing can occur.

Adoption process

Here is a bit about us, our adoption requirements and process. We are a 501c3 non profit and all adoption fees and donations go back into the medical fund for all of our rescued dogs. We are an all foster based rescue and do not put our dogs into boarding.

* We believe our rescued pets should be "indoor" family pets.
* We do require that adopters be at least 21 years of age and have a valid photo id.
* We do not adopt to secondary adopters ( such as a gift or for a friend).
* All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention.
* We prefer to have a vet or personal reference.
* We do require a home visit and all family members must be present at the time of the visit.
* At the visit we are there to make sure our pet is comfortable in your home and with your other pets.
* If MULTIPLE applications come in for the same pet Tails from the Heart will determine which is the best fit by home visit or application.
* If you are renting (either apartment or home) we require a copy of the breed restrictions/pet deposit prior to adoption.

These requirements are to ensure that we help our rescued pet find the best possible forever home and the best match for both your family and the pet.

Our adoption fee: $300 for pets under 6 months old and $250 for pets over 7 months of age. This fee covers the spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, parvo/distemper vaccine(s), bordetella vaccine, fecal and heartworm test (if 6 mths or older for heartworm test), dewormer, first month of heartworm and flea/tick preventative, micro chip and applicable sales tax.
