Cats and kittens are also tested for feline leukemia (FELV) and the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and must be negative to enter the adoption program.
Our adoption fee of $125 for adult cats and kittens covers only a small fraction of the cost of rescuing, rehabilitating, and housing these homeless animals. Donations help us to provide veterinary care, medicine, vaccinations, food, kitty litter, and other supplies, so that the only limit on our foster caregivers is the size of their homes – not the size of their pocketbooks.Shelter locationWe have adoption centers in Houston and Central Texas:

Cats are available for adoption 7 days a week, any time the store is open at the Temple & Killeen locations.
Adoptions at the Houston S. Shepard PetSmart only take place between 11.30am-4.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The Petco location in Houston is a cattery where the cats can be viewed any time the store is open.

At all other times the animals are at their foster parents house.
