Before you can adopt, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at pawscrossedny.org/dog-adoption-questionnaire. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. 

The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

Adoption process

Simply fill out a questionnaire and we will get back to you within a few days. Please feel free to come by and visit our Rescue while we process your questionnaire!

Please note that we do not hold pets for any reason. We have a first come, first adopt policy for applicants with pre-approved questionnaires.

Shelter location

You can come by the Rescue anytime during our open hours to meet our pets or fill out the questionnaire (available online as well). Please feel free to call or email us for more information on the process or a specific pet you're interested in!
