Adoption process

Our adoption process is really easy. All you do is fill out our online adoption form found on our website to get the ball rolling.

You will receive an email message when your application has been processed and approved, it may take up to two weeks for approval. We expect you have done your research on the care requirements before you apply for an animal, a care sheet can be located on our website.

It is against our policy for you to resell or give away any adopted animal. If you are no longer able to care for your animal under any circumstances, it must be returned to Little Res Q.

Due to the over population of pets that are found in rescues and the difficulty finding permanent placement for these species, breeding is prohibited for all species. You have been made aware that if you are caught selling and/or breeding adopted animals that you will be banned from future adoption.

Please note:

The adoption fee varies depending on the animal; we do not give away free pets. The adoption fee for Sliders, Maps, and Cooters is $30.00.

Delivery and Pickup fees

Regardless of where you live, there is a min $20.00 fee for deliveries and pickups. The further you live, the higher the fee will be.

Shelter location

You can find us online, on facebook, and at various rescue and reptile events throughout Ontario.

    Breed info

Turtles are reptiles of the order Chelonia /kɪˈloʊniə/ or Testudines /tɛˈstjuːdɪniːz/. They are characterized by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield. Colloquially, the word "turtle" is generally restricted to fresh-water and sea-dwelling Testudines. Testudines includes both extant (living) and extinct species. Its earliest known members date from the Middle Jurassic. Turtles are one of the oldest reptile groups, more ancient than snakes or crocodilians. Of the 360 known extant species, some are highly endangered. Turtles are ectotherms—commonly called cold-blooded—meaning that their internal temperature varies according to the ambient environment. However, because of their high metabolic rate, leatherback sea turtles have a body temperature that is noticeably higher than that of the surrounding water. Turtles are classified as amniotes, along with other reptiles, birds, and mammals. Like other amniotes, turtles breathe air and do not lay eggs underwater, although many species live in or around water.
